Lynne started yodelling at the age of 10 after listening to Frank Ifield singing "She Taught me to Yodel" however for 33 of those years she was a 'closet' yodeller only coming out in 2007 at a local gig. Since then Lynne's yodelling has taken some wonderful twists and turns.
New Zealand Games company Pik Pok commissioned some yodelling on one of their games called Giant Boulder of Death which was released by Universal. After performing at The Cornbury Festival with the International Ukuele Club of Sonning Common, the song "Taught me to Yodel" was chosen to be on that years' CD and she has had the great honour and pleasure of twice accompanying Mr Joe Brown MBE on the song "In The Jailhouse Now" at two of the International Ukulele Club of Sonning Common's concerts.
Christmas 2012 saw the release of her "A Yodelling Christmas Song" which caught the ear of Tom Robinson from BBC Radio 6 who played it on his show and here's what he had to say about it in his blog: "For this mixtape, I had to listen - with gritted teeth - to every single track uploaded to BBC Introducing in the last three months that had "Christmas" in the title. Imagine! And yet buried in that vast sugary snowdrift of clichéd sleighbells and schlock sentimentality, there were nineteen gems that I actually liked very much. Some of them funny, some cynical, some genuinely affecting… and some so silly and strange they were simply irresistible. Yes, Lynne Butler with your "Yodelling Christmas Song", I'm talking about you."
In 2014 she was invited onto Room 101 (presented by Frank Skinner), BBC Radio Five Live, BBC Radio Wales and appearing live on Breakfast TV teaching Naga and Charlie to yodel! Fun times indeed. In November that year Lynne was flown out to Barcelona to yodel at an Oktoberfest themed trade fair and then in December a very fun filled appearance on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch teaching Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy to yodel along with their guests Paloma Faith, Jon Richardson, Sarah Hadland and Frank Skinner.
Since then there have been two appearances on Come Dine with Me as after dinner entertainment and many more live Radio Interviews including many of the BBC local stations up and down the country, BBC Radio 2 teaching Simon Mayo and the team to yodel on Drive Time and teaching Geoff Lloyd and Annabel Port to yodel on Absolute Radio.
2017 had it's fair share of yodelling gigs for celebrity, public and corporate sector alike. A lovely private gig for Mel Geidroyc, also booked as standby performer for the Generation Game pilot in 2017 and more recently in December 2018 teaching Faye Tozer and Giovanni Pernice to yodel for Strictly Come Dancing. Since then she's taught Ant and Dec, Big Zuu, been live on CBBC Saturday mash up, Zoe Ball and Richie Anderson and in fact she made Zoe Ball's Top 12 Christmas days in 2021. Yodellynne and her brother also did some fancy duo yodelling on 8 out of 10 cats does countdown and that clip made it in to the all time top 30 in 2021 too.
A couple of such exciting projects that can be revealed at present are firstly Lynne's first Yodelling album "Yodelling with Yodellynne" is in the making due to be released in the summer of 2023. It has yodelling from the traditional to the bizarre including songs from Laurel and Hardy's Way Out West film and Lynne's own version of Hocus Pocus by Focus. Secondly, she is writing her autobiography - The Closet Yodeller and she's hoping to get it published in 2023.
Her yodelling workshops know no bounds having also recently provided one for Stag Do! Yes, you read correctly.
Please contact me if you'd like to arrange a workshop.
If you can get together 10 people or more I will run a 2 hour workshop at a cost of 40.00 per person.
The main idea of the workshop is to have A LOT of fun and find your inner yodelling-self! I will give you a demonstration then I'll give you plenty of vocal exercises and warm-ups and teach you breathing techniques before looking at how to yodel. We'll cover a bit of history of yodelling before we put into practice what we've learnt by performing a yodelling song together.
The workshops are suitable for complete beginners through to advanced vocalists and you will go back with lots of info to help you on your way to further your yodelling.
Alpine snacks and an apres-ski bar will be available. Lederhosen optional but preferred!
Corporate Yodelling Workshops
Why not hold a Yodelling workshop as a team-building exercise. Ideal for a 'break out' session during a conference or training weekend for example. Lots of fun. It breaks down inhibitions and brings people together in a fun and unusual way whilst also finding their own inner yodel!!

"Thank you so much for such a brilliant session on Thursday. It was so effective and exactly what we were hoping for. We all had a lot of fun, and members of the team who've seen Ant + Dec since say they keep yodelling to show them how they do it, which i'm delighted about! Sounds like it was a hit!" - Sophie Gore, Producer of Saturday Night Takeaway end of show show
"Hi Lynne! Ah you were great! Absolutely brilliant. Thanks again for taking part." - Cat, producer of the Wynne Evans show, BBC Radio Wales
"I came for yodelling lessons from Lynne in preparation for performing at Oktoberfest events and wanting an extra skill to add to my show alongside the music and comedy. With this in mind, Lynne came up with a personalised lesson plan to maximise our time together and ensure I got all the materials I needed. Not only is she a very talented yodeller but she was able to explain and break down the yodels in a way I could follow and copy and eventually add my own twists to them. I had immense fun in the lesson and in my practising since using the recorded materials Lynne made. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn yodelling for fun or, like me, for work!!" - Hannah Clift, Bristol
We couldn’t have enjoyed our yodelling session more and only wished it could have been for longer! It was the perfect thing for our Stag Do and haven’t laughed that much in a while….some would say I did more exercise doing the German dancing than I normally do in the gym! Thank you again Lynne!!" - Geordie, London
Fab afternoon yodelling with Lynne Butler... I didn't think I would find my inner yodel, but I did!!! Brilliant fun!
Thank you so much for the yodelling extras you sent. I too have become a closet yodeller. So far only in the car, on my allotment or alone a
home! I feel there is a yodeller in there somewhere but still at the chrysalis stage, hoping to emerge as a butterfly one day! (Or maybe a moth). I am hoping that two of my friends are going to sign up for next week's class. I'm really looking forward to it - it was such fun last week.
Hi Lynne - expert tuition in yodelling. Thank you it was great fun. x
You were absolutely tremendous and were the talk of the party. Everyone thought you were amazing. Em absolutely loved every minute. You set the tone for a fantastic evening which was hugely enjoyed by all and sundry. And a huge thank you to your husband and son too, for lugging all that gear.
Lynne truly is the Queen of Yodelling. What she can’t yodel isn’t worth yodelling about! - Mel Geidroyc
